  1. Nick, it looked like your back was arched on that bench press. Is that right or did it just look like it. Seems like you wouldn’t want an arched back. But then again I don’t bench press … like you guys!

  2. You’re right, my back was arched and that’s what you’re trying for on that movement. It helps you drive the weight through your legs and lats rather than just your triceps and chest – you get more muscle engagement and can use more weight. The parts you always want in contact with the bench are your shoulder blades (pinched together as hard as you can) and your butt. As long as those two are steady, you can arch as much as you want and there is very little chance you’ll get hurt.
